Rapid Clear Braces
A smile you can be proud of — in a reasonable amount of time.
Unfortunately, many adults are self-conscious of their smile due to crooked teeth. In order to fix this issue, traditional long-term braces or veneers were the only option – until now. Rapid Clear Braces are an effective, safe and affordable solution. While traditional braces and veneers still have their place in the dental industry, Rapid Clear Braces fit more seamlessly into an adult lifestyle. Not only are they clear, the average treatment time is only 6 months!
What are Rapid Clear Braces? Are they for me?
Rapid Clear Braces, sometimes referred to as Six Month Smiles, take all the best components of traditional braces and modified the treatment and materials to give adults a reasonable solution that fits their lifestyle. It’s a modern twist on classic orthodontics.
Rapid Clear Braces are ideal for correcting spaces, gaps, crooked or crowded teeth. If your smile isn’t straight, Rapid Clear Braces may be the perfect solution for you. Other benefits include:
- Average 6 month treatment time
- Clear brackets and tooth-colored wires
- Fast and comfortable appointments
- Typically less expensive than traditional braces or aligners
Imagine this: Straight teeth in the time it takes between your regular check-up and cleaning visits!
Are Rapid Clear Braces similar to traditional braces?
Yes and no. Rapid Clear Braces are similar to conventional orthodontics in regards to using brackets and wires, and the system of moving the teeth is the same. The difference between the techniques is the focus of treatment. With Rapid Clear Braces, we are focusing only on the teeth that show when you smile. The goal of Rapid Clear Braces is to give you a smile that you can be proud of in a reasonable amount of time. Traditional braces go beyond improving your teeth and work to change things like jaw alignment or bite.
Will Rapid Clear Braces really only take 6 months?
The average case takes about 6 months. However, some will take less and some will take more. A “long” case may take up to 9 months.
Are you moving my teeth faster than traditional braces? Will it damage my teeth?
Rapid Clear Braces use very light and safe forces to move teeth at the same rate as traditional braces. Your front teeth move faster than your back teeth. Treatment with Rapid Clear Braces is finished once the front teeth are positioned in a cosmetically pleasing arrangement. Traditional braces take longer because there is an additional goal of perfecting the bite in your back teeth. In other words, there is no more chance for damage to your teeth or roots with Rapid Clear Braces than there is with traditional braces.
Will Rapid Clear Braces be uncomfortable?
Most patients experience a temporary “tightness” in their teeth. We recommend over-the-counter medications like Advil or Motrin (Ibuprofen) to provide relief.
What is the difference between Rapid Clear Braces and the invisible clear braces I see on TV?
There is no “magic” treatment that applies to everyone. Each method has its advantages. The advantage of the invisible aligners that you see on TV is that they are truly invisible. However, there are some disadvantages.
- Longer treatment
- Higher cost
- Taking trays in and out
- Fine tuning the result is more difficult and time consuming
Rapid Clear Braces have many advantages including:
- Average 6 month treatment time
- Lower cost
- You don’t have to remember to do anything except see us once a month for an adjustment
- Fine tuning the result is easier and faster
I’ve got crowns (or veneers). Can I still get braces?
Yes. Modern braces can be bonded to ceramic crowns and porcelain veneers just like natural teeth.
Will I have to wear a retainer?
The short answer: Yes. Any kind of braces will require you to wear a retainer. The good news is you have the option to have a permanent retainer bonded, out of sight, behind your teeth. Therefore, you won’t have to remember to put in an “old-fashioned” retainer every night.
